Yellow Light Phase (60-90 days) - Residents take emotional risks by initiating honest and
authentic relationships and by developing and practicing the skills for dealing with their emotions
and impulses.
Residents should begin to accept responsibility for the consequences of their behavior, both past
and present. They become actively involved in a 12 Step program, begin to deepen their
spiritual life and concentrate on their physical health. During this phase, residents initiate more
independent living skills (self care, appearance, household responsibilities, time management,
and budgeting).
