Red Light Phase (30 to 60 days) - This is a period of "settling in", residents get to know their fellow residents, and becoming oriented to the rules and expectations of the program.
Orientation is given to familiarize the resident with Breakthrough Recovery Outreach rules, regulations and expectations, as well as with other residents and the Coordinator.
The Red Light Phase includes, but is not limited to the following:
Completion of intake paperwork.
Identify and appropriately express emotions.
Identify and appropriately deal with self-defeating thoughts and behaviors.
Actively participate in treatment planning.
Identify goals and objectives for continued treatment.
Schedule and attend individual therapy sessions on a weekly basis.
Participate in House Therapy sessions weekly.
Establish an affiliation with local 12 Step group and obtain an AA/CA/NA sponsor.
Conclude any old business or personal matters which may interfere with treatment planning.
Initiate family interest and participation in a program of recovery.
Begin employment, educational program, or volunteer/service work during the week.
Read the first five chapters in the AA Big Book.
Demonstrate memorization of the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Satisfactorily complete written work on the first three steps of AA of the 12 Step Program.
Maintain school work and work attendance.
"What treatment means to me" presentation to Breakthrough Recovery Outreach community
Practice independent living skills through household chores.
Enhance good health through physical fitness activities.
Completion of initial 30 day treatment contract.
Review Phase II material with a Phase II resident.
Receive affirmative vote from majority of House group and staff to be admitted to Yellow Light Phase.
