Breakthrough Recovery Outreach has implemented three separate phases for a
program of recovery. Each resident must adhere to certain guidelines and principles
to accomplish specific recovery goals before transition into the next phase of the
recovery program.
Below is a summary of the three phases at Breakthrough Recovery Outreach; for more details on a
specific phase, simply click on the appropriate link or traffic light:
Red Light Phase - This is a period of "settling in", getting to know their fellow residents, and
becoming oriented to the rules and expectations of the program. Residents will begin to
identify and appropriately express their emotions, learn how to appropriately deal with
self-defeating thoughts and behaviors, and actively participate in their own treatment
planning and meetings.
Yellow Light Phase - Residents take emotional risks by initiating honest and authentic
relationships and by developing and practicing the skills for dealing with their emotions and
impulses. They accept responsibility for and the consequences of their behavior, both past
and present. They become actively involved in a 12 Step program, begin to deepen their
spiritual life and concentrate on their physical health. They initiate more independent living
skills (self care, appearance, household responsibilities, time management, and
budgeting).
Green Light Phase - Residents integrate the living skills that they have gained. They
develop greater independence using their 12 Step program, sponsors, friends, and
counselors for support. During this period, they make their discharge plans, including but
not limited to: future living arrangements, employment/education, aftercare counseling and
12 step meetings.
The Relapse Prevention Program
All residents at Breakthrough Recovery Outreach must participate in the Relapse Prevention program
while residing at the facility, and the Relapse Prevention program fees are already included in the resident program fee. Upon completion of a resident's stay on site at the facility, or if a non-resident isseeking more support in their recovery program, the Relapse Prevention program at BreakthroughRecovery Outreach is available for anyone who chooses to benefit from it.
Career Coaching
We understand that many residents come to the recovery program unemployed needing assistance, and the staff at Breakthrough Recovery Outreach is here to help and encourage our residents.
